Rome Police Traffic stop leads to the arrest of Two People

Two people from Rome were arrested on Tuesday after police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Maple and East 14th street.

According to Floyd County Jail Records, 38-year-old Jermaine Spivey and 29-year-old Ashley Ragland were both arrested by the Rome Police Department Tuesday at 2:36 PM after the odor of marijuana was detected by police during a no-insurance traffic stop.

Spivey admitted to officers that he had marijuana and also a firearm. During a search of the vehicle police also found suspected Xanax.

Spivey is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule 4 controlled substance, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Ragland is being charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a schedule I controlled substance.
