A motorcyclist from Cartersville was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck in Gordon County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol:

The wreck occurred at around 3 p.m. on Highway 41 at the South Calhoun Bypass when a tractor-trailer was traveling south in the left turn lane and attempted to make a left turn onto the bypass while the traffic signal was displaying a yellow arrow.

The motorcycle, traveling north on Highway 41, entered the intersection and struck the right rear tires of the commercial vehicle trailer.

The motorcyclist, identified as 21-year-old Evan Preston Maddox was transported to AdventHealth Gordon, where he died.
