Man charged with exploitation of the elderly, terroristic threats, and simple battery
A 53-year-old Rome man was arrested following a domestic altercation at his home on Mark Street Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Kenneth Wayne Rogers was holding a club-like object when he pushed a 76-year-old woman and threatened a man in the home.
Both victims were family members.
Rogers is charged with exploitation or intimidation of the elderly, terroristic threats and acts, and simple battery.
Man arrested for shoplifting, drug possession
A 62-year-old Rome man, initially arrested for shoplifting, is facing a felony charge after multiple gabapentin pills were reportedly found in his pants pocket.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
John L. Durant Watkins took a Coca-Cola and a food product from the Shorter Avenue BP.
He was then found with the medication that was not prescribed to him along with a glass smoking device.
Watkins was charged with possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, and possession of drug-related objects.
