Last month, a two-hour discussion regarding gun violence in the community was held at the Rome City Auditorium.
According to Mayor Sundai Stevenson, the hope is to come up with a workable comprehensive plan to address the causes of gun violence, adding that the problem was not going to be solved in just one meeting.
So, the discussion will continue next week.
“On Tuesday, August 22 at 6 p.m., we will have our second community conversation on gun violence,” Stevenson said during Monday’s Rome City Commission meeting. “It will be held in the Rome City Auditorium and the community is invited.”
Stevenson began organizing community discussions in response to a recent spike in gun-related crimes in the Rome area.
