Woman arrested following disturbance at church

A Lawrenceville woman was arrested Sunday following an incident at a church on Callier Springs Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Kail Mikeal Schemmel entered the church, damaging the door, and then acted in a tumultuous manner which alarmed those attending the service.

She then struck a man in the face and threatened to kill the victim in front of law enforcement.

Schemmel also threatened police, bit an officer, and resisted arrest.

The incident occurred in front of four children.

Schemmel is charged with vandalism to a place of worship, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, two counts of felony obstruction of officers, two counts of battery, two counts of terroristic threats and acts, and four counts of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

Woman charged with fleeing or attempting to elude

A 20-year-old Rome woman is accused of fleeing from Georgia State Troopers on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Kaitlyn Elise Stiles traveled at speeds of 82 in a 55-mile-per-hour zone on Ga. 1 in a reckless manner before traveling off the shoulder of the roadway.

She struck an unattended vehicle and fled the scene.

Stiles is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, speeding, failure to maintain a lane, failure to notify the owner upon striking an unattended vehicle, reckless driving,  no insurance, expired registration, and driving without a license.

Two arrested on drug charges

A probable cause search on a vehicle ended with the arrest of two people on drug charges late last week.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Officers searched the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana coming from it.

Suspected methamphetamine was found in a clear plastic bag.

Police also found marijuana, and psilocybin in a container marked “mushrooms.”

Gabapentin, multiple syringes, and clear plastic bags were also recovered.

49-year-old Kenneth Wayne Burkhalter of Silver Creek and 32-year-old Mary Elizabeth Studdard of Lindale are charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drugs not in the original container, and possession of drug-related objects.

Man charged with cocaine possession

A traffic stop for a window tint violation on Dean Avenue at East 12th Street ended with the arrest of a Rome man on drug charges Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

61-year-old Randolph David Reynolds Sr. was charged with possession of cocaine after a K9 search turned up crack cocaine, which was located under the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
