An honor for the City of Rome in financial reporting.
The Government Finance Officials Association of the United States and Canada has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Rome for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended December 31, 2022.
According to Rome City Commissioner Jim Bojo, the report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting,” Bojo said. “ Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by government and its management. I would like to thank and commend our finance director Toni Rhinehart and her staff for earning this recognition.”
Bojo’s sentiments were echoed by Rome Mayor Craig McDaniel.
“Toni, I want to thank you and your staff for the job you do,” he said. “I know that’s not an easy job to manage as many departments and employees as you do, and keep up with all those budgets. That’s part of it, and you always seem to have answers.”
McDaniel said getting recognition from an outside group is a huge pat on the back and speaks well for the City of Rome.
