A Rome couple has been arrested on charges of 1st-degree cruelty to children, battery, and aggravated battery.
According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:
36-year-old Christopher Shawn Johnson and 31-year-old Hannah Marie Johnson struck a child several times on the buttocks, hips, and upper legs with a belt.
The injuries prevented the child from being able to lie down and sleep.
Christopher Shawn Johnson is also accused of punching the child in the face causing injuries to the victim’s ears and cheeks, as well as lacerations inside the child’s mouth.
The incidents occurred at the couple’s Chulio Road residence, according to the warrants.
