Woman accused of molesting child
A 63-year-old Armuchee woman was jailed Wednesday on a felony warrant charging her with aggravated child molestation.
According to the warrant:
Lori Ann Meinke committed an indecent act with a child under the age of 16, physically injuring the victim.
She is additionally charged with child molestation and 1st-degree cruelty to children.
The incident occurred between May 1 and June 1 of last year at Meinke’s Dugger Drive residence.
Two former Floyd County Prison inmates charged with conspiracy
Two more men have been arrested in conspiracies to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison.
According to the arrest warrants and other records at the Floyd County Jail:
25-year-old Jamieson Jamal Lawrence of Columbus schemed with three other inmates and a civilian over the prison phone system to have marijuana and methamphetamine dropped off at a work detail at the Rome-Floyd County Recycling Center in October of 2022.
Lawrence then retrieved the drugs from a garbage can.
He is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act, possession of marijuana and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of items prohibited for inmates, and possession of drugs near a public school.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Alexis Enrique Martinez collaborated with two other inmates and two civilians to purchase and deliver methamphetamine, marijuana and tobacco to a work detail site on Minshew Mountain Road in July of last year.
Investigators intercepted calls on the prison’s phone system and confiscated the contraband before it could be retrieved.
Martinez is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act, possession of items prohibited for inmates, and use of a communications facility to commit a crime.
Man accused of having a cell phone while incarcerated
A Macon man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Wednesday on felony warrants charging him with possession of items prohibited for inmates.
According to the warrants:
24-year-old Shel Vonta Beard was found with cell phones while an inmate at the Floyd County Prison on February 23, 2022, and February 28, 2022.
Teen charged with simple battery, terroristic threats, and disrupting a school bus
An Armuchee teen was arrested on misdemeanor charges Wednesday following an incident on a Floyd County school bus back on March 29.
According to the arrest warrants:
18-year-old Annie Ruth Burchett punched a male student in the head six times and then threatened more bodily harm when he got off the bus.
Burchett is charged with simple battery, terroristic threats and acts, and disrupting the operation of a school bus.
