The Floyd County Commission will get an update on a state law that could have a major impact on revenues during their Tuesday pre-meeting caucus.
House Bill 581 would restrict assessment increases on homesteaded property to 3 percent annually beginning on January 1, 2025, following a statewide referendum.
The bill would address issues with the sales ratio study and would revise requirements for the annual notice of assessment and the appeals process.
Dante Handel with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia will be on hand to give the update during the caucus which begins at 4 p.m.
During the regular meeting at 6, the commission will consider additional work for the Sixth Avenue Parking Deck, a contract for improvements to the Brighton Water Treatment Plant, the replacement of the repeater and radio towers for the Floyd County Prison, a bucket truck for public works, and a change order for renovation work at AdvantHealth Stadium
An urban camping ordinance is also slated for first reading during the meeting which will be held at the Floyd County Administration Building on East Fourth Avenue.
