Man charged with burglary, assault
A West Rome man is accused of kicking in the door to a residence on Ohio Drive and then chasing four people, including a juvenile, around the house with a loaded pistol.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Martin Palmerin Lopez also threw a glass smoking device, hitting one of the victims.
He also fought with police as they were placing him under arrest and was found with a pill bottle containing acetaminophen and codeine that was prescribed to someone else.
Lopez is charged with 1st-degree burglary, four counts of aggravated assault, three felony counts of obstruction of officers, criminal trespass, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, and 1st-degree cruelty to children.
Man accused of robbing another man of his car keys
A Lyerly man was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on charges of armed robbery, terroristic threats and acts, theft by taking, and criminal trespass.
According to jail records:
46-year-old Tyrone Lafochia Morgan took a man’s car keys while appearing to possess a weapon.
Morgan also threatened the victim.
He also used his vehicle to strike the victim’s vehicle, causing damage to it.
The incident occurred at 2501 Shorter Avenue, according to the report.
Man charged with simple battery against an officer, felony obstruction
A 29-year-old West Rome man is accused of trying to strike a Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy in the face.
According to jail records:
Mainor Johnny Gonzalez fought with the deputy, who was trying to detain him during an investigation on Mark Street at Old Dalton Road late last week.
Gonzalez is charged with felony obstruction and a misdemeanor count of simple battery against a law enforcement officer.
Man accused of using lost wallet to make purchases
A Garden Lakes man has been jailed on charges of theft of lost or mislaid property and financial transaction card fraud.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
41-year-old Shelton Tremaine Harris found a wallet and the Circle K on Martha Berry Highway.
He then used the financial cards in the wallet to make purchases without the consent of the victim.
Woman charged with entering an auto
A homeless woman was jailed over the weekend on a felony count of entering an automobile.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
34-year-old Kasie Leann Abner entered a vehicle at 2847 Martha Berry Highway with the intent to commit a theft.
Woman arrested on drug charges in North Rome
A traffic stop on North Broad Street at North Avenue Sunday ended with the arrest of a North Rome woman on multiple charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
58-year-old Kimberly Michelle Ferguson was found with methamphetamine and a smoking device with meth residue.
She admitted to using meth about one hour before the traffic stop.
Ferguson is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, DUI, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, driving with a suspended or revoked license, driving without valid registration, driving without insurance, driving with a cracked or busted windshield, and a seat belt violation.
