Report: Shot fired during argument about man’s sister

Rome Police responded to a ‘shots fired’ call on Silver Street in Southeast Rome on Tuesday.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

A man told officers that he and his long-time friend got into an argument over something that was said about the long-time friend’s sister.

The friend pulled out a Glock and fired once at the man, but missed, with the bullet hitting the ground.

The investigation is continuing.

Man arrested in Shannon burglary

A 37-year-old Shannon man has been charged in a burglary just up the road from his own residence.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Robert Matthew Bowman entered an outbuilding on Avenue F and took some items valued at less than $100.

At the time, Bowman was also in possession of gabapentin and trazodone.

He is charged with 2nd-degree burglary, theft by taking, criminal trespass, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of pills not in the original container.

Man charged with aggravated animal cruelty

A Lindale man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to the warrant:

51-year-old Jerry Duane Harris failed to provide adequate food, water, and shelter for a dog named “Jethro” at his home on Teat Street.

The dog was severely emaciated and had a veracious appetite when offered food.

Woman charged with terroristic threats and acts

A North Rome woman is accused of threatening a 58-year-old man with an ice pick at her Couper Street home early Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

29-year-old Shainia Alexandria Harding-Walker was also heard on a recorded 911 line threatening to have someone else harm the victim.

A used drug pipe was also found in Harding-Walker’s pants pocket.

She is charged with terroristic threats and acts, simple assault, and possession of drug-related objects.

Warrant: Man tackled woman

A Rome man is facing a battery charge after allegedly tackling a woman at his Ashland Park Boulevard apartment.

According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:

34-year-old Steven Marcus Anniston was pulled over by police on Wednesday for driving without his headlights on at night.

He then gave officers his brother’s name to avoid being arrested on the warrant accusing him of tackling the woman, who sustained an injured knee and a scraped knuckle back on December 4.

Anniston was additionally charged with giving a false name or date of birth, misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement, and a headlight violation.

Man arrested for simple battery, child cruelty

A 52-year-old North Rome man is accused of punching a woman in the face in front of four children.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Jonathan Lamar Lawrence also broke a window during the incident at a residence on Cedartown Highway.

He is charged with simple battery, criminal trespass with property damage, and four counts of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
