Now that the holidays are over, area residents are being reminded that they can recycle those live Christmas trees this coming weekend.
“Bring One for the Chipper” is Saturday from 9:00 AM-noon in the Rome Home Depot parking lot on Hicks Drive.
Those who bring in their undecorated tree will receive a free tree seedling.
The annual Christmas tree recycling program is sponsored statewide by Keep Georgia Beautiful and locally by Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful.
Despite the name, many trees never actually make it to the chipper.
Instead, they become fish habitats in local lakes.
