Woman charged with child cruelty, terroristic threats

A 29-year-old Silver Creek woman has been arrested on felony warrants charging her with 2nd-degree cruelty to children and terroristic threats and acts.

According to the warrants:

Brittany Jean Cowan chased a juvenile around the house with burning pages from a book.

She also threatened to strangle a second victim.

Cowan is also being held for a probation violation.

Man charged with cocaine possession

An Armuchee man is facing drug charges following his arrest late Thursday on South Broad Street.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

57-year-old Joshua Jodell Leach was stopped for a window tint violation.

A K9 indication led to a search that turned up two bags of suspected crack cocine packaged for resale and a small amount of marijuana.

Leach is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Man charged with meth possession

A North Rome man was arrested at Calhoun Road and East Hermitage Road Thursday on a felony possession of methamphetamine charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

41-year-old Robert Alan Ray Croy had a baggie of suspected meth in his pocket and identified himself to police as “Eric Matthews.”

Croy was also charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license and giving a false name or date of birth, as well as misdemeanor and felony counts of failure to appear in court.

Man accused of stealing motorcycle

A Rockmart man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Thursday on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking a motor vehicle.

According to the warrant:

41-year-old Jonathan Nicholas Reed Went to the Silver Creek Mini-Mart, posing as though he was picking up a motorcycle for the owner when he did not have the victim’s permission to do so. 

Reed has since been released on bond.

More charged for card fraud suspect

A 24-year-old Rome man initially jailed Wednesday for allegedly using someone else’s card to purchase $2.77 in food and $6.94 in cigars at the Circle K on Calhoun Highway is facing eight more counts of financial transaction card fraud.

According to the arrest warrants:

Deandre Williams purchased $50 in gas at Circle K on North Broad Street, Xbox gift cards, and an Xbox game controller at GameStop. 

He also made three transactions at Rome Liquor and Tobacco.

The total charges came in at just over $202.

Man charged with fleeing also charged with felony marijuana possession

A Rockmart man accused of fleeing from Rome police through several residential neighborhoods Police early Wednesday is facing an additional felony charge of possession of marijuana:

According to Floyd County Jail records:

22-year-old Cortavious Dytre Benham fled from a traffic stop for failing to maintain a lane.

He then fled on foot after crashing his vehicle.

1.45 ounces of marijuana was the found in the center console of the vehicle.
