Teens charged with theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing
Two Rome teens are accused of fleeing from police in a stolen pickup truck early Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Michael Ali Powell and 19-year-old Brandon Charles Griffin took the Ford F-150 Platinum valued at $36,000 from a location on Greer Drive.
The pickup struck a curb and then accelerated away from police at speeds of 70 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour residential zone.
Powell and Griffin were taken into custody on Wilson Street and charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, entering an auto, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and three counts of running a stop sign.
Man charged with burglary, aggravated stalking
An East Rome man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly barricaded himself in a vacant residence on Hull Avenue.
According to Floyd County jail records:
44-year-old Joe J. Allen had also violated conditional bonds ordering him to stay away from a woman.
He is charged with 1st-degree burglary, obstruction of law enforcement officers, and aggravated stalking.
Man accused of stealing from an elderly person
A man has been arrested in connection with incidents dating back to November of last year.
According to an arrest warrant:
24-year-old Jonathan Blake Money stole four checks from an elderly woman and cashed them.
The total amount was $1,100.
The victim was in the hospital when the alleged crimes occurred.
Money, who has been in jail since January 3, is charged with exploitation of the elderly.
Chattooga County woman arrested for burglary in Floyd County
A Trion woman was recently booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony 1st-degree burglary charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Jessica Danielle Henderson broke two windows of the victim’s residence on East Hermitage Road in order to gain entry.
The incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Man charged in scheme to deliver contraband to inmate
A Rockmart woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with conspiracy to commit a felony.
According to the warrant:
37-year-old Keyonia Rashael Stripling conspired with two other people, one an inmate at the Floyd County Prison, to deliver contraband to an inmate work detail over recorded calls on the prison’s phone system back in February of 2023.
The contraband included a cell phone and charger, tobacco, and rolling papers, which were concealed inside of a potato chip canister at the Bartow County Recycling Center.
Teen charged with theft by recieving
A Rome teen is facing one count of receiving stolen property following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Brisyn Adonis-Jamal Alexander was in possession of property that had been stolen back in November.
Alexander is also charged with financial transaction card fraud.
