Rome’s Martin Luther King Commission held its annual community Freedom March on Monday in downtown Rome to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Participants gathered on First Avenue and marched together along Broad Street as a symbol of unity.
The march concluded at Rome City Hall, where a program featuring speakers was hosted in the Rome City Auditorium.
The keynote speaker, Michael Thurmond, former Chief Executive Officer of DeKalb County, praised Rome for its enduring commitment to honoring and celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
