Woman charged in conspiracy to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison rearrested

A Rockmart woman has been jailed for the second time in a week on a felony charge related to a scheme to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison back in February of 2022.

According to the arrest warrant charging 37-year-old Keyonia Rashael Stripling with possession of items prohibited for inmates, obtained and delivered a cell phone to a work detail location.

Recorded phone records show that another civilian provided Stripling with the phone and charger.

Stripling then packaged the items, along with tobacco and rolling papers, inside a Pringle’s potato chip canister and left it at the Bartow County Recycling Center for retrieval by an inmate to be smuggled into the prison.

Man arrested following altercation

A Rome man was arrested following a domestic altercation at his Fosters Bend Road home early Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

24-year-old Justin Tyler Leslie made unwanted physical contact with the victim by poking her in the head numerous times during an argument while yelling and cursing at the woman.

He also busted down a bedroom door where a 2-year-old child was sleeping, along with the victim’s father.

Leslie additionally pushed a second victim to the kitchen floor.

Leslie is charged with two counts of simple battery, and two counts of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
