The Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission will hear a request for a special use permit for a wedding and special events venue at 114 Flat Rock Road off of Blacks Bluff Road when they meet on Thursday.
Plans for the project known as “Whistle Woods at Flat Rock Wedding and Events, also include onsite guest cottages.
Planning staff is recommending conditions such as events being restricted to private functions, while prohibiting public event concerts, festivals, and any event that would require purchasing a ticket; maintaining a natural buffer; and that no events be held until all required development and building permits are obtained.
Also on the agenda is a request to rezone 1 Albion Drive from Suburban Residential to Light Industrial so that the owner can convert the existing warehouse to 30-35 interior climate-controlled storage unit spaces that are accessible via two roll-up drive-thru doors, as well as exterior storage spaces on the side as additional drive-up storage units.
The planning commission will also hear a rezoning request for 318 Fred Kelley Road.
The owner is seeking a change from Suburban Residential to Agricultural Residential to protect his ability to have horses on the property, which is his primary residence.
The meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
