The Floyd County Board of Commissioners will consider a rezoning request for property on Albion Drive when it meets on Tuesday.
The applicant is seeking a change from Suburban Residential to Light Industrial to convert the existing warehouse to 30-35 interior climate-controlled storage unit spaces that are accessible via two roll-up drive-thru doors, as well as exterior storage spaces on the side as additional drive-up storage units.
The Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission is recommending approval with the following conditions:
(1) that outdoor storage of any kind, including motorized vehicles and recreational vehicles, is not allowed;
(2) a tree will be planted and maintained every 25 linear feet along the frontage of Albion Drive (6 trees) and Barker Road (6 trees);
(3) a six-foot tall, opaque fence along the eastern side with the adjacent residential neighbor with a row of evergreen trees which meets the buffer requirements;
(4) signage shall be non-illuminated and limited to 36 inches in height unless affixed to the wall of the building;
(5) any/all exterior lighting will be dark-sky compatible and no more than 20-feet in height.
Tuesday’s meeting will start at 6 pm at the County Administration building located at 12 East 4th Avenue, Rome.
Caucus will begin at 4:00 pm.
