Consumer advocate Erin Brockovich was in Rome on Tuesday for a town hall meeting to discuss the dangers of “forever chemicals” found in nearby waters.
PFAS Georgia attorney Ben Finley and water expert Bob Bowcock joined Brockovich for the town hall held at the Forum River Center.
Residents were able to learn how to get their property tested and how to seek legal action.
The PFAS Georgia team also shared what residents and business owners can do to protect their land and water.
Prior to the town hall, a news conference was held by the banks of the Oostanaula River
Finley gave an update on proposed state legislation that would shield PFAS polluters from liability.
Bowcock collected a sample from the river for testing and explained how the Oostanaula has been impacted by the “forever chemicals.”
The PFAS Georgia team has made a strategic decision to aggressively test water, dust, and soil in Floyd, Bartow, Polk, Paulding, Chattooga, and Haralson Counties.
