The Georgia gas price average is expected to continue its downward trend during the week. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $2.99 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).
Monday’s state average is 2 cents less than a week ago, 20 cents more than a month ago, and 24 cents more than this time last year.
It now costs an average of $44.85 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying almost $4.00 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.
*Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has decreased by 1 cent to $3.11 (subject to change overnight).
“Georgia drivers are seeing lower gas prices as the new year ushers in,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “As long as oil prices remain low, drivers can anticipate pump prices to do the same this week. However, Georgians should be cautious now that winter is upon us and expect seasonal peaks and valleys to impact future prices.”
Local averages on Monday were $2.95 in Floyd County, $2.94 in Chattooga County, $2.93 in Bartow County, $2.92 in Gordon County, and $2.91 in Polk County.
