Man charged with five counts of aggravated animal cruelty
A Rome man is accused of using zip ties to dock the tails of five puppies at his home on Rogers Drive.
According to the arrest warrants for 56-year-old Twyford Redd Hamil:
The tails of four of the puppies were still attached, but the zip ties had cut off circulation, and caused pain.
In one instance, the zip tie was buried into the skin of the puppy near the bone.
The one puppy, whose tail had been docked, was suffering from an infection to the nub.
Hamil is charged with five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Man charged with cocaine possession, underage consumption of alcohol
A 20-year-old Rome man was arrested early Sunday morning in the 200 block of Broad Street on charges of possession of cocaine, misrepresenting his identity to obtain alcohol and underage possession of alcohol.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Davis James Johnson had been drinking, and was found to be in possession of an ID stating he was 21.
He also had a small bag of suspected cocaine.
