Man accused of attacking minor
A 35-year-old homeless man was jailed Sunday on a felony count of 1st-degree cruelty to children.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Jaren Whitley Barrett attacked a 15-year-old, leaving visible marks on the victim’s face and hands.
Barrett also held the victim’s mother and turned on her as she tried to stop the attack on her child.
The incident occurred on September 27 at a home on Mahogany Street.
Man used stolen Visa card to pay for pizza
A 20-year-old Rome man was arrested at his Old Summerville Road home Sunday on a felony warrant charging him with financial transaction card fraud.
According to the warrant:
On September 24, Dashun Lavonte Rouse picked up a Deep Dish Lunch Combo from Little Caesar’s on Shorter Avenue using a stolen Visa card.
Man charged with multiple counts of entering an auto, identity fraud
A Man from Ball Ground, Georgia is accused of entering multiple vehicles in Floyd County.
According to arrest warrants and other jail records:
28-year-old Cody Shon Reeves stole financial transaction cards and other items from vehicles on Jan. 26, 2021.
He was arrested in Leesburg, Alabama on Feb. 8, 2021, and was in possession of multiple identification cards, financial cards, and other identifying information belonging to the victims.
Fraudulent charges were discovered on some of the stolen bank cards.
Also in February of 2021, Reeves stole a 2009 Dodge Charger from a location at the connector and Turner Chapel Road by breaking the front driver’s side window.
In December 2020, Reeves broke the window of a vehicle on Ward Mountain Road, taking a Google Chromebook, a book bag, and other school supplies.
Reeves is charged with eight counts of entering an auto, three counts of identity fraud, and three counts of financial transaction card fraud, as well as single counts of theft by taking a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and criminal trespass with damage to property.
