A Rome man is accused of raping a woman on New Year’s Day.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
39-year-old Joshua Gilbert Bishop also confined the victim to her residence and assaulted her by striking her in the face.
The victim sustained severe bruising to her legs, stomach, and neck.
Bishop is charged with rape, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, and battery.
He is also being held on a probation violation.
