The Floyd County Finance Department was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), marking 41 years of recognition.
This award was presented for the annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2024.
The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
Finance Director Susie Gass said, “I’m very proud of all the hard work the department puts in every day, and the efforts made to ensure we continue to receive this award.”
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“This seems routine, but it is not,” said Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord. “It is an extreme amount of work. Credit goes to Susie and her team. They do a wonderful job taking care of our financial duties.”
On Tuesday, the commission read a proclamation for Georgia Government Finance Professionals’ Week
