The Floyd County Commission has approved a request from the facilities department for funds Chuck Sennett III Amphitheatre project next to the Rome-Floyd County Library.
The $14,230 comes from 2023 SPLOST Infrastructure funds.
“This will include handrails and sidewalk,” said Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord. “There is also a slight contingency if any other items do arise.”
According to McCord, just a few more punch list items remain.
“There are a few other items with electrical and Georgia Power that we need to take care of to get it ready for some events in April,” he said. “There are two pending events in April, assuming we get those projects completed.”
The open-air venue is available for concerts, festivals, weddings, and community events.
It features a 1,040-square-foot stage and a 7,000-square-foot spectator area.
Dedicated on August 24, 2025, the amphitheater was made possible through a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Charles “Soc” Sennett in memory of their son, Chuck Sennett III — a Darlington graduate and acclaimed aviation photographer.
The project reflects a meaningful collaboration between the Sennett family, Floyd County officials, and the Rome Area Council for the Arts.
