-Adairsville Police Department-
The GBI has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Adairsville early Thursday.
According to Adairsville Police:
At around 1:15 a.m., a man wanted for numerous felonies shot an officer in the chest.
He then attempted two more times to shoot the officer, who returned fire.
The suspect was shot numerous times and died.
The officer survived, was treated, and released from the hospital. The violent suspect is now dead.
The incident and crime scene were immediately secured and turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
A news release from Adairsville Police stated:
“The Adairsville Police Department will not be able to provide any additional details until the G.B.I. has concluded its investigation in its entirety. We are very thankful our Officer survived and made it home to his wife and family. “
