The Rome Police Department is investigating a serious multi-vehicle traffic crash that claimed one life on Thursday afternoon.
The wreck occurred just before 4:00 p.m. on Highway 27 South near the Rome City Limits and involved a Dodge Magnum, a Ford Taurus, and a Toyota Sienna.
A passenger in the Toyota, 40-year-old Maria Luisa Cornejo Reyes of Rome, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
A 4-year-old child was also injured and is receiving medical treatment.
Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to the scene and provided immediate assistance to those involved.
The Rome Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team and Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate.
