A man being sought in a hit-and-run on Chulio Road at Cole Road over the weekend is in custody.
32-year-old Drake Ladon Keef was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Taylorsville at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Local authorities would like to thank the public for their input and help in sharing information that helped lead to his capture. They would also like to thank the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office for observing and identifying him, leading to his arrest.
According to the arrest warrants:
Keef struck 35-year-old Stevie Marie Thompson with his vehicle and then left the scene.
Thompson sustained serious injuries and later died at a local hospital.
The warrants charge Keef with aggravated battery, hit-and-run, and driving with a suspended license.
The Floyd County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Thompson’s death.
