Two arrested on drug charges
Two people were arrested during a drug bust on Walnut Avenue in East Rome on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers recovered more than an ounce of marijuana, a THC vape, THC gummies, and a scale.
54-year-old Andre Loveial Mayes Jr. and 49-year-old Crystal Leigh Mayes are charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
Man charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts
A Rome man is accused of assaulting a woman at his Leafmore Road apartment on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
52-year-old Jonathan Andrew Barkley picked the victim up over his shoulder and then slammed her to the ground during an argument.
The victim received two lacerations to her arms.
Barkley also choked the woman, pulled her hair, and threatened to cut her throat.
He then pulled out a pocket knife, flipped it open, and tried to cut the victim.
Barkley is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, battery, and simple battery.
