Tuesday afternoon a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Broadstreet in the downtown Rome area.
According to the Rome Police Department, a woman was utilizing the crosswalk on Second Avenue when the driver of the vehicle didn’t see her and hit her. The woman had the right of way to cross according to witnesses on the scene, and the driver was attempting to turn right on a red light onto 2nd avenue when he struck her.
The woman suffered a broken ankle as a result of the event.
