Weekend voting added to election schedule

October 15, 2019–12:51 p.m.

There will be weekend voting for the November 5 Municipal Election.

The Floyd County Board of Elections made the announcement to a packed room during their meeting on Tuesday.

Saturday and Sunday voting was not included when the election was called.

However, city and county attorneys found a change in the law that will permit weekend voting to be added.

It will be on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 27 at the Rome Civic Center.

City of Rome voters will be deciding six seats on the city commission as well as an alcohol referendum to permit businesses to sell alcohol by the drink on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
