(Via WBHF Radio) Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. will temporarily suspend operations at its tire manufacturing plant in White, Ga., “due to the global impact of COVID-19 on markets.”
Phase-down of production has already begun and will be completed over the next few days. Toyo anticipates the plant to resume production on April 19, 2020.
“Toyo Tire’s distribution centers are fully stocked and will remain open to service our customers,” say company officials. “We also continue to receive tires from our overseas manufacturing facilities.
“To ensure the health and safety of our employees at each of our locations, Toyo Tire previously implemented preventative measures recommended by the CDC, including telecommuting, social distancing, and routine cleaning and sanitizing of facilities and equipment.
“We will closely monitor this situation and take such measures as are appropriate.”
Toyo’s White, Ga., plant can build 46,500 tires a day at full throttle, according to MTD research.
