The City of Rockmart released the following press release on Monday afternoon:
“Help beautify and revitalize Rockmart neighborhoods by joining the City of Rockmart and local volunteers in our community cleanup on Saturday, October 10th at 8:30 a.m.
Everyone’s welcome to lend a helping hand, and students who take part can receive community service hours. We will provide bags and gloves for picking up litter and trash, as well as free refreshments for all volunteer workers. We will meet between the green space on Wingfoot Street and Second Avenue.
The benefits of volunteering include increased neighborhood pride, higher property values, reduced instances of illegal dumping, and lower crime rates. So, come join us and partner with your neighbor so that we can help ensure our neighborhoods stay clean, safe and vibrant!
*Volunteers will need to sign a waiver and practice social distancing guidelines*
What we will provide:
• Roll-off containers and free disposal
• Gloves, trash bags, and safety vests
• Masks
• Coordination and monitoring of event
• Certificates for Community Service hours
• Free refreshments for all volunteers”
