STAFF REPORTS
The future of Cave Spring Elementary School will be discussed during the Floyd County Board of Education’s caucus session Monday afternoon.
The board will hear from the Cave Spring Community Coalition, who is asking for the building to be used as a comprehensive community center with a broad range of programs for youth, health and wellness activities for seniors and the community-at-large as well as a space for arts organizations, a business incubator, and community meetings.
The board is also expected to hear from the Cave Spring Housing Authority.
In January, the board of education voted to close the school at the end of this school year, citing enrollment and financial considerations for the school system as a whole.
The caucus begins at 5 p.m. with the regular board meeting to follow at Pepperell Middle School on Hughes Dairy Road in Lindale.
