Some water customers in East Rome are without water service after a transfer truck hit a fire hydrant in the Hemlock Street area Thursday morning.
According to Rome City Manager Sammy Rich, water screws and emergency location services are on the scene working to get service restored.
It is not known how many customers are impacted.
Due to the water outage, Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s Floyd County Campus in Rome will close for the remainder of the day.
