A 56-year-old man is dead following a shooting on Reservoir Street in Rome Saturday.

Rome police have identified the victim as Sam Franklin JR of Aragon.

Previously reported:

At around 7:36 p.m., a “shots fired” call was reported outside an apartment complex located at Park Homes.

The victim was found outside the building and had suffered a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to Atrium Floyd Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation currently by the Rome Police Department to determine the cause of the altercation.
