Report: Man flees after vehicle hit guard rail

A 29-year-old Calhoun man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly wrecked his vehicle on Highway 411 in Rome, fled the scene, and then barricaded himself inside the restroom of a nearby convenience store.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Michael Hunter Garrett admitted to being under the influence of marijuana, methamphetamine, painkillers, and other possible drugs.

He said he fled after his vehicle hit a guard rail because he did not want to deal with the police at that time.

Garrett is charged with hit and run, failure to maintain a lane, DUI, no insurance, and no license.

Man charged with meth possession, DUI

A 55-year-old Cartersville man was arrested following a wreck Wednesday afternoon on Highway 411 at Norton Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Edward Jerry Teems showed signs of impairment and suspected methamphetamine was found in his pocket.

Teems is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, and possession of meth.

Two arrested for meth

Two Rome men were arrested at a location on New Calhoun Highway Wednesday evening on possession of methamphetamine charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

25-year-old Nathan Kendall Whorton and 56-year-old Kenneth Lee Fowler were both found with a crystal-like substance believed to be meth.

Metro task force arrests two on Martha Berry Boulevard

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers arrested two people on drug charges on Martha Berry Boulevard Wednesday evening.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

44-year-old Michael Dewayne Green was found with suspected methamphetamine and a glass smoking device during the execution of a search warrant at the Fairbridge Inn.

He is charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

Meanwhile, 51-year-old Chandra Crystal Martinez-Bribescas was charged with possession of methamphetamine after she was found with suspected meth while in the same area.

Vehicles broken into at local hotel

Rome Police responded to the Holiday Inn on Hobson Way Wednesday in reference to several vehicles being broken into.

According to a Rome Police report:

Four men told officers that their work trucks had been rummaged through and over a thousand dollars in various items were stolen.

The tools and work equipment were found in the wood line of the property and recovered.

There were also additional tools and work gear found that did not belong to the four men.

The report indicated that a suspicious person was seen walking around the property the night before.
