The applicant is seeking to rezone property on Technology Parkway for a wood transfer station

The Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission will consider several rezoning requests and one annexation when it meets Thursday.

One application seeks to rezone property at 0 Technology Parkway from Light Industrial to Heavy Industrial for a wood transfer station.

According to planning staff, there are actually two parcels that would have to be merged before any activity may occur, as neither parcel meets the required minimum of 5 acres under H-I zoning.

Planning staff also recommend that if approved, the proposed use as a wood transfer station should include the operation of an air curtain, and the rezoning should be conditioned on the requirement that the unit is operated in strict compliance with EPD air quality permitting.

The planning commission will also consider a rezoning at 68 Burton Road to Community Commercial.

The property is currently zoned Suburban Residential and is being used as a lawnmower repair shop.

There have been neighbor complaints and subsequent Code Enforcement action.

One annexation request is on the agenda.

The owner of 210 Harrison Road in Garden Lakes would like to see his home annexed into the city.

A rezoning request for property at 1008 Calhoun Avenue from Community Commercial to High-Density Traditional Residential is also on the agenda.
