Authorities have released the name of a woman who was shot and killed Saturday evening on Shadowbrook Drive in Rome.
51-year-old Iris Dale Edwards was found in the backyard of the residence with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Another woman was attempting to perform life-saving techniques.
However, Edwards was later pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.
A gun was located on tip of a grill with the magazine ejected.
21-year-old Ellis Geoffery Marrs of Rome has been arrested and charged with Edward’s murder.

According to Rome Police:
Officers were dispatched to a ‘shots fired’ call outside a house located on Shadow Brook Drive in Rome at around 10:52 p.m.
A domestic altercation between a man and a woman had developed to include other members of the household and it resulted in the victim sustaining a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The Woodstock woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office and her body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Ellis Geoffery Marrs of Rome has been arrested and charged with murder.
Other charges are possibly pending as the shooting remains under investigation.
