Time change this weekend

Saturday, Mar. 11, 2023–11:16 a.m.

-Staff reports-

Remember to set your clock ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night.

Daylight Saving Rome begins at 2 a.m. Sunday and the Rome Fire Department is taking the opportunity to remind everyone that smoke alarms save lives.

The time change is a perfect time to remind yourself to change the batteries in your smoke alarm and make sure they are operational.

Smoke alarms with non-replaceable 10-year batteries are designed to remain effective for up to 10 years. If the alarm chirps, warning that the battery is low, replace the entire smoke alarm right away.

Smoke alarms with any other type of battery need a new battery at least once a year. If that alarm chirps, warning the battery is low, replace the battery right away.

Remember, ‘spring forward’ before you go to bed tonight by setting your clocks ahead one hour.
