Floyd County Police investigating fatal wreck

The Memorial Holiday travel period ends at 11:59 tonight, and so far there have been 14 deadly wrecks on Georgia roadways, one of those claiming the life of a 43-year-old Rome man.

The Rome News-Tribune reports that Jason Samuel Johnson died after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the connector near Kingston Highway at around 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Fatal wrecks have also been investigated by the Paulding County, Villa Rica, Newnan, Hazelhurst, Monroe, Colquitt, Tifton, and Dublin posts of the GSP. Other fatal wrecks were worked by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Gwinnett County Police, the Cherokee County (Georgia) Sheriff’s Office, the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
