Report: Man threatens state troopers after crashing into guard rail

A Rome man is facing multiple charges after his vehicle crossed over the center line on Highway 293 and struck a guardrail.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

22-year-old Charles Andrew Shropshire Jr. refused to walk back to the crash scene and started cursing at two Georgia State Troopers.

Shropshire then resisted arrest and threatened to kill the troopers if they touched him, before also making a threat against the son of one of the troopers.

He is charged with two counts of terroristic threats and acts, felony obstruction of officers, DUI, open container, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and a window tint violation.

Teen accused of fighting juvenile detention officer

A Loganville teen is facing a felony obstruction charge following an incident at the Rome Youth Detention Center.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

17-year-old Chase Jordan Anderson struck a juvenile correctional officer in the head, back, and face multiple times, causing the officer to fall.

The officer sustained injuries that required medical attention.

Man charged in burglary, thefts dating back to late 2023

Charges have been filed in a burglary that occurred on November 29 at a residence on Rockmart Highway in Silver Creek.

According to an arrest warrant:

33-year-old Justin Van Adams was seen on video taking five firearms, jewelry, and a grease gun from the residence.

Adams is also charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of theft by shoplifting.

According to the arrest warrants:

He took a one-man auger valued at $269 on November 2, two cabinet heaters valued at $218 on November 5, and a miter saw valued at $649 on November 8. All of the items were stolen from Lowe’s on Shorter Avenue.

Report: RFMTF executes search warrant, witnesses man weighing methamphetamine

The execution of a search warrant at a home on East Drive ended with the arrest of a 38-year-old Rome man on drug trafficking charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

When Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers entered the residence, Derrion Lashaun Chambers was in the process of weighing methamphetamine on a digital scale.

The report states that Chambers had over 28 grams of meth.

He is additionally charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and a probation violation.

Man arrested after allegedly trying to sell drugs to an undercover officer

A South Rome man has been charged with an attempt or conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

33-year-old Jesmon Jermain Antwon Smith tried to sell illegal narcotics to an undercover officer at a location on South Broad Street, using a wireless communications device.

He was additionally charged with the use of a communications facility to commit a felony.

Man charged with simple battery, drug possession

A Rome man was arrested Saturday on charges of simple assault, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Anthony Rashun McCowan slapped a woman in the face at his King Street home.

He was then found with cocaine, meth, marijuana, and a smoking device once at the jail, resulting in an additional charge of crossing the guard line with contraband.

Aragon man arrested during traffic stop

An Aragon man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Highway 101 over the weekend.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

45-year-old Tyson Lajuan Hudson was stopped for a headlight violation.

The was searched following a K9 indication and marijuana, methamphetamine, and a digital scale were located.

Hudson is charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, and a headlight violation.

Report: Man tried to hide meth

A 58-year-old Rome man is facing methamphetamine possession charges following his arrest on East 18th Street Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

George Kelvin Waddell attempted to hide suspected meth as a police officer was trying to make contact with him.

Waddell is also charged with tampering with evidence and a felony count of failure to appear in court.

Counterfeit bill lands man behind bars

A 49-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a 1st-degree forgery charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

David Paul Gragg passed a counterfeit $100 bill at Lumina Coffee Company on Braves Boulevard between January 16 and January 28.
