Arrest made in thefts of firearms from vehicles in Lindale and Silver Creek areas

-Floyd County Jail records-

A Silver Creek teen is accused of stealing firearms and other items from multiple vehicles.

According to Floyd County Jail records and arrest warrants:

17-year-old Eric Christian Byars Jr. and another person entered five vehicles in the Jamestown area of Lindale on March 5.

A Taurus 9mm was taken from a vehicle on North Terrace Avenue.

On South Central Avenue, a wallet with IDs and debit cards was taken from a car, a $250 pair of sunglasses was stolen from a pickup truck, and a letter jacket valued at $350 was taken from a sedan.

Byars and the other individual were also seen looking into a vehicle on Van Tassel Drive, but it’s not known if anything was taken.

That same day, a purse was stolen from a vehicle on Flora Avenue.

A 38 Rossi firearm was also stolen from an SUV on Flora Avenue.  

In addition, a Ruger 380 was taken from a truck on Brooke Court; a wallet containing $100 was taken from one vehicle on Longbrooke Court and coins were taken from another.

On Eden Valley Road, a Sig Sauer 9mm was stolen from an SUV and a Smith and Wesson 9mm was taken from a sports car.

On November 15, Byars and three other individuals entered vehicles in the Silver Creek area.

A Keltec 9mm was taken from a vehicle on Silvermont Drive.

Byars is charged with multiple counts of felony entering an automobile, felony, and misdemeanor counts of theft by taking articles from a vehicle, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
