Man charged with robbery by sudden snatching

An Albany man has been arrested in connection with a robbery on Woodberry Drive in Silver Creek that occurred in September of last year.

According to the arrest warrant:

53-year-old Darrell Pernell Jones entered the residence to speak with the victim about borrowing money.

He then snatched $2,600 from the victim and threatened him when he tried to get the money back.

Jones claimed to be a police officer and was wearing a badge.

He also punched the victim in the nose, breaking it.

Jones is charged with robbery by sudden snatching.

Man accused of stealing from gaming machine

A Rome man is accused of stealing $500 in cash from a coin-operated amusement machine.

According to an arrest warrant:

36-year-old Dustin Shane Reynolds took the cash by prying open the gaming machine at a store on Maple Avenue in March of 2021.

Reynolds has been in jail since October of last year on unrelated charges.

He is now charged with theft by taking and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.

Warrant: Woman used former friend’s name on shoplifting citation

A Cunningham Road woman has been jailed on a felony identity fraud charge.

According to an arrest warrant:

41-year-old Meredith Julian Broxson used the name of the victim, a former friend, on a citation for shoplifting in September of 2022 in an attempt to avoid criminal charges.

The victim ended up being arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court for the charge.

Woman charged with conspiracy, possession of items prohibited for inmates

A Forsyth County woman is accused of conspiring via text messages and phone calls with another person to acquire and deliver drugs and tobacco to the Floyd County Prison in January of this year.

According to the arrest warrant for 35-year-old Janae Nicole Collier of Cumming:

20 oxycodone pills, 58 grams of marijuana, more than 49 grams of methamphetamine, 170 grams of smoking tobacco, and two packs of cigarettes were intercepted by prison investigators at the site of a work detail at the Floyd County Industrial Park.

Collier is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, possession of items prohibited for inmates, and use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.

Man charged with possession of meth, obstruction

A 32-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with possession of methamphetamine.

According to the warrant:

Michael Derrick Salmon was in possession of suspected methamphetamine while driving a motor vehicle on Shorter Avenue in June of 2022.

The meth was located in the cup holder and was not claimed by any of the occupants of the vehicle.

On Wednesday, Sutton ran from sheriff’s deputies who were serving the arrest warrant, resulting in an additional charge of obstruction.

Motorcyclist involved in wreck facing charges

A Silver Creek man has been arrested in connection with a motorcycle crash back on February 16.

According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:

33-year-old Colby Lee Craig wrecked his motorcycle on Old Rockmart Road at Ridgeview Drive.

A Georgia State Trooper, who was investigating the crash, found methamphetamine and packaging materials.

Craig is charged with possession of meth, possession with the intent to distribute, reckless driving, and passing in a no passing zone.
