A Gordon County man is facing charges of attempted murder, arson, and aggravated stalking following a fire on Saturday.

According to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office:

The home was occupied at the time by a woman and a small child, who barely escaped with their lives.

Detectives have recovered evidence linking 46-year-old Charles Timothy Battles to the fire.

Battles was arrested on Sunday at a home in the Scottsville community.

He was previously arrested for aggravated stalking and had pled guilty in Superior Court in October and was serving a sentence of probation at the time of the fire.
