The Rome Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance following a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning on North Broad Street.
On Sunday, April 19, 2026, at around 12:42 a.m., E-911 Dispatch received reports of a shooting at Family Dollar, 1417 N Broad St NE. Rome, GA, 30161.
Responding officers and emergency personnel located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The victim’s name is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
Investigators recovered evidence at the scene and are actively working leads; however, detectives need the community’s help to identify and locate the person responsible for this senseless act of violence.
We know there were numerous people in the area at the time of the shooting. Someone saw something. Someone knows who pulled the trigger. If you were there, have photos or video, or know anything at all about what happened, now is the time to come forward.
Anyone with information is urged to call 9-1-1 or the anonymous Crime Tip Line at 706-236-5000. Even the smallest detail could be critical in helping investigators bring the suspect into custody.
The Rome Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate. Additional information will be released when appropriate.
