Man arrested following domestic altercation in Coosa
A Coosa man was jailed on Sunday and charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, simple assault, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, and theft by taking.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
23-year-old Guztavo Guzman-Ambriz physically restrained a woman in a rocking chair by holding her and then sitting on her during a domestic altercation at his Dean View Drive home.
He also threatened the victim and held a kitchen knife to her neck.
The victim was holding her 22-month-old child at the time.
Guzman-Ambriz also slapped a cell phone out of the woman’s hand in an attempt to keep her from recording, and then stole her car key.
Man accused of burglarizing Agnes Street home, pulling woman and child inside
An Aragon man was arrested at his Wax Road home over the weekend on charges of 1st-degree burglary, false imprisonment, false imprisonment involving a minor under the age of 14, and 2nd-degree cruelty to children.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
50-year-old Harold Eugene Pugh entered a home on Agnes Street in Southwest Rome.
He then pulled an adult female and a child, who was not his, inside the residence, locked the door, and would not permit them to leave.
Man arrested following disturbance on Judson Drive
A West Rome man is facing charges following an incident over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Christopher David Ridings was intoxicated and walking around a home on Judson Drive with no clothes on, exposing himself.
He then went into a man’s room and punched him in the nose.
Ridings grabbed the victim’s iPhone and slammed it onto the floor.
All of this was witnessed by a minor.
Ridings then repeatedly got up and began banging his head into a wall after being told by police to sit down, and told an officer that he would “Eat his face.”
Ridings is charged with terroristic threats and acts, battery, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, public indecency, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, and obstruction of officers.
Woman arrested on a felony burglary charge
A Cave Spring woman is facing a 1st-degree burglary charge following her arrest on Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
36-year-old Bonnie Jean Thew entered a home on East Creek View Drive, where she stole clothes and a Monster energy drink.
Thew was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
Woman charged with felony obstruction
A West Rome woman is accused of shoving a police officer who was investigating a fatal shooting on North Broad Street over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
29-year-old Alyssa Marie Higginbotham is charged with a felony count of obstruction of law enforcement.
Once at the jail, she was found with a small amount of marijuana, resulting in charges of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drugs by an inmate.
Man charged with drug possession following warrant service
A South Rome man was arrested on Friday on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Joshua Jermaine Hall ran from authorities as they were attempting to execute an arrest warrant.
He was then found with cocaine, marijuana, and digital scales.
Hall is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and obstruction of law enforcement.
He is also being held on three probation violation warrants.
Woman facing drug charges
A Rome woman was arrested on drug charges at her East 14TH Street residence on Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old Jasmine Monique Heath was found with a bag of marijuana and a scale.
She is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
