Search warrant leads to arrest of a man on a felony count of conducting a chop shop

A Rome man is accused of running a chop shop operation at his Charleston Drive residence.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

23-year-old Ahmide Trayvon Lee Berry was found in possession of vehicle parts without the identification marks during the execution of a search warrant.

The stickers had been removed from some of the auto parts.

Berry also had around $2,000 in stolen items, with a fair probability that they had been brought into Georgia from another state.

One vehicle was disassembled, and one of its parts lacked the manufacturer’s sticker.

One of the plates under the vehicle appeared to have been tampered with, and no numbers or letters were visible.

Officers also found a firearm and a small amount of marijuana.

Berry is charged with conducting a chop shop, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, theft by receiving stolen property, bringing stolen property into the state, theft by receiving property stolen in another state, criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
