Warrant: Woman hit family member with a five-pound weight
A West Rome woman was arrested on Monday on a felony warrant charging her with aggravated assault.
According to the warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
18-year-old Katrina Elizabeth Battles used a five-pound weight to strike a family member, causing marks on her neck and bruising on her shoulder.
Battles is also accused of biting and scratching the victim.
The incident occurred on July 17.
Battles is additionally charged with battery.
Lindale man charged with child cruelty
A Lindale man was arrested early Tuesday morning at his Garden Avenue home on a felony count of 2nd-degree cruelty to children.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Matthew Lawrence Wood ripped a Wall-mounted television from the wall, causing damage.
He also pushed one victim’s face and began spanking him.
Wood also made contact of a provoking nature while taking another victim’s cell phone.
Wood is also charged with battery and criminal trespass with property damage.
Man accused of stealing mini-Yorkie
An Austell man has been arrested in a reported dog-napping in Floyd County
According to jail records:
27-year-old Alphonso Jasaun Matthew Jr.took a mini-Yorkie from the victim’s property on North Harrison Street in Garden Lakes.
The dog is valued at $1,600.
Matthew was also operating a vehicle while his license was suspended, resulting in an additional charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Woman accused of damaging phone
A West Rome woman is facing charges of 2nd-degree criminal damage to property and misdemeanor obstruction of officers following her arrest on Monday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Leticia Erika Perry destroyed the victim’s cell phone, causing $800 in damage.
She then gave police a false name and date of birth.
