Rome City Schools releases more details regarding cell phone policy

Rome City Schools is providing additional information regarding the implementation of the Disengage to Engage initiative at Rome High School.

During the 2026-2027 school year, Rome City Schools is piloting its implementation of House Bill 1009 at Rome High School, one year ahead of the state requirement.

The policy applies only during the instructional day, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Before and after the instructional day, including athletics and extracurricular activities, cell phone use will be determined by coaches, sponsors, and activity supervisors based on the needs of their individual programs.
